Notes from a Dead House (also translated as The House of the Dead) is a semi-autobiographical novel by Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky, first published in 1861–1862. It draws on Dostoevsky’s own experiences in a Siberian prison camp, offering a groundbreaking psychological and social study of life among convicts in Imperial Russia. The work is widely regarded as a turning point in his literary career.
